- Gumbo!!!! At the request of my husband and in honor of the Saints in the playoffs (ouch.), I dove into making gumbo for the first time. I have been scared of the gumbo since I have pretty high expectations after having lived in south Louisiana. It turned out fantastic! I found Louisiana andouille and file (need to figure out how to put an accent mark over the 'e'...later) in my local grocery (amazing) and was patient with the roux. Yummy.
- I like teaching aerobics way too much. I have been finding myself literally dreaming up new choreography. Some of this has to do with the fact that I am a perfectionist and that I teach at the same time 4 days this week....means that I feel responsible for keeping the regulars interested.
- My doggy just put his lil head on my knee so I am typing and petting. How long does it take to get good at that?
- I can't tell lately if my procrastination for class prep has to do with true avoidance, or if I have been just giving myself too much time to do it and so I unconsciously know I can put it off a bit longer.
- I finally broke down and asked my editor for an extension on the book ms deadline. sigh. I need the extra time because I am having a writing block and permissions are taking longer than I expected, but I still feel like the extension represents a kind of failure.
- A friend of mine recently heard that cooking with olive oil at high temperatures can be bad...unhealthy, that is. Anyone know anything about this?

You teach aerobics four days a week? That's amazing! As a FT professor, that's really impressive!
Sorry about the Saints. heh heh. Your dog reminds me of our cats, who insist on being held whenever one of us sits down at a desk. Gumbo! What a fabulous idea.
